Welcome to The View From Sea Level

Boston - and Boston Harbor - have always been destinations for visitors from across the nation and around the world. We have a storied past and terrific colleges, universities, and teaching hospitals, as well as wonderful museums and cultural attractions and great art and food scenes. It's a great sports town, with passionate fans. But we have also earned a reputation as a tough town, where politics is a blood sport and the only thing we remember at the end of the day is - the grudges.

As I look back at my more than 30 years on Boston Harbor as Director of Strategy & Communications at Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, what stands our to me is the role that clean water and our spectacular harbor have played in bringing people together to improve the quality of life for all Bostonians, the region's residents and visitors alike.

If you are looking for the snarky and patronizing prose and personal attacks that too often pass for civic discourse in these trying times in this tough town, try Twitter.

But if you want to explore Boston's spectacular harbor and waterfront, discuss and discover our shared history, share stories and memories, swap recipes and celebrate Boston Harbor and our capitol city by the sea, welcome aboard.  I'll be glad to be your guide.

I hope this blog can be a dialogue, not a monologue. Please share your thoughts in the comment section below, but please be nice!

All the best,

Bruce
